Frequently asked questions
Why does my cropped JPG look slightly softer than the original?
Re-encoding always loses a small amount of detail in lossy formats — even a 'no crop' export at quality 95 isn't byte-identical to the source. To minimise the loss, set quality to 95+ and only re-export when you actually need a different size or format. For lossless cropping, export to PNG or WebP-lossless.
Why does it strip EXIF metadata?
Re-encoding through canvas always discards EXIF — that's a guarantee, not an option. Useful when you don't want to share GPS or camera info.
Which formats can I export to?
JPG (smaller, no transparency), PNG (lossless, alpha) and WebP (modern, often smaller than JPG at the same quality). Quality slider applies to JPG and WebP.
Can I batch-crop the same area on many images?
Add multiple images, set an aspect ratio, and use the queue tabs to crop each. Use Download all to save them in order.
